Surrender Information

Surrender

Our Club is available to assist with the rescue, rehoming, and support of Griffon Bruxellois dogs or Griffon-type crosses that may come into the care of rescue groups.

Griffons can sometimes be overlooked or mistaken for mixed breeds, particularly when they appear scruffy, untrimmed, or not in typical show condition. Reference photos above and below help identify the breed, including examples of rough-coated (“scruffy”) Griffons who may not immediately resemble the polished images often seen online.

It is also worth noting that smooth-coated Griffons are sometimes mistaken for Pugs or other small companion breeds, as many people primarily associate Griffons with the rough coat. We are aware of recent situations where this has caused confusion in rescue, so we are very happy to assist with identification if there is any uncertainty.

If a Griffon comes into your rescue, we would be very pleased to help with:

• Breed identification support

• Temporary or permanent placement options

• Advice on care, grooming, and temperament

• Promotion through our club network

We are fortunate to have a network of experienced foster carers who are very familiar with the breed and able to support Griffons appropriately when needed.

Our goal is to ensure these dogs receive the best possible outcomes and specialist support when required. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a dog you think may be a Griffon. If you’re unsure — we are always happy to assist.

Our Club acknowledges and thanks all Rescue groups for the incredible work done in this space.

If you are a Rescue group and you need assistance, please get in touch with us.
